Wedding Child Catering Plan

This playbook outlines the steps necessary to ensure that children attending a wedding are entertained and fed with kid-friendly options, making the occasion enjoyable for guests of all ages.

Step 1: Plan Activities

Organize a variety of age-appropriate activities to keep children engaged during the wedding. Consider setting up a dedicated kids' zone with coloring books, puzzles, and simple games. Hiring a professional children's entertainer, such as a magician or a face painter, can further ensure that the children have an enjoyable time at the wedding.

Step 2: Menu Selection

Collaborate with the catering service to create a kid-friendly menu. Options should be simple, less spicy, and familiar to most children. This could include dishes like mini pizzas, chicken nuggets, or macaroni and cheese. Ensure there are also healthy options available, such as fruit cups and vegetable sticks with dip.

Step 3: Seating Arrangement

Prepare a specific seating area for children, preferably within sight of their parents' tables. This allows for easier supervision while giving children their own space. Consider using disposable tablecloths and unbreakable dinnerware to minimize accidents.

Step 4: Quiet Space

Designate a quiet area away from loud music and crowds where children can relax or take a nap if needed. This space should be comfortably furnished with mats or bean bags, and possibly supervised by a responsible adult or hired nanny.

Step 5: Emergency Plan

Have a contingency plan for any emergencies or unexpected situations involving the children. This could include having a first-aid kit readily available and ensuring that at least one responsible adult is present to handle any issues that arise.

General Notes

Allergies Awareness

Confirm with parents about any food allergies or dietary restrictions their children may have well in advance. Make sure the catering service is aware and prepared to accommodate these needs.

Adult Supervision

Ensure there is sufficient adult supervision for the children, particularly in the kids’ zone and quiet area. Adults responsible for the supervision should be briefed on emergency procedures and be attentive to the children's needs.

Communication

Keep clear lines of communication open with parents regarding the whereabouts and care of their children throughout the event to provide reassurance and handle any concerns promptly.
