Ignition System Upgrade

Gather all necessary tools and parts including new ignition coils, spark plugs, spark plug wires, and any specific tools required for your vehicle.

Ensure the vehicle’s engine is off and the key is removed. Allow the engine to cool fully before starting the procedure.

Open the hood and remove any covers or components obstructing access to the ignition coils and spark plugs.

Disconnect the negative terminal of the car battery to prevent any electrical shorts or hazards.

Unbolt and disconnect the old ignition coils from the engine one at a time, marking each one if necessary to ensure proper reinstallation.

Place the new ignition coils in the correct position and bolt them down securely. Reconnect any electrical connectors.

Remove the old spark plugs using a spark plug socket, ensuring that no debris falls into the cylinder.

Install the new spark plugs by threading them in by hand initially and then tightening them with a torque wrench to manufacturer-specified torque.

If applicable, replace the old spark plug wires with new ones, making sure to match the wire lengths and connections exactly as they were.

Reinstall any components or covers that were removed to gain access to the ignition components.

Reconnect the negative terminal of the car battery and ensure all connections are secure before starting the engine.

Start the engine to ensure it is running smoothly and that the upgrades are functioning correctly. Listen for any unusual noises and check for error codes using an OBD II scanner if available.

Use a torque wrench to follow the manufacturer’s specifications when tightening spark plugs to avoid under or over-tightening.
