Creating Digital Art
This playbook provides a guide on how to create professional-level digital art using open-source software such as GIMP and Inkscape. It outlines the steps required to set up the software and create art effectively.
Step 1: Install Software
Download and install the open source software GIMP and Inkscape from their official websites. Ensure to download the version compatible with your operating system.
Step 2: Setup Workspace
Open both GIMP and Inkscape. In each software, set up the workspace to your preference, including units, grids, and window arrangement.
Step 3: Learn Basics
Familiarize yourself with the basic tools and features of GIMP and Inkscape. Go through tutorials available in the 'Help' section or online to learn the functionalities of the essential tools.
Step 4: Create Sketch
Using Inkscape's vector tools, create a rough sketch or outline of your art. Use layers to separate different elements of the design for easier editing.
Step 5: Refine Design

Step 8: Edit in GIMP

Step 9: Final Touches
Apply any final touches to your art in GIMP, such as adjusting contrast, saturation, and adding filters or layers.
Step 10: Save & Export
Save your artwork in GIMP's native format (XCF) for future edits. Export the final version of your digital art to desired formats (e.g., JPEG, PNG, TIFF) for distribution or printing.
