<p>Allow your piece to dry slowly to leather-hard before further refining the shape. Cover it with plastic if necessary to control the drying rate.</p>

<h3>Step 8: Refining</h3>
<p>Once leather-hard, refine the shape using various rib tools, carving tools, and sponges. Smooth out imperfections and ensure stability in the form.</p>

<h3>Step 9: Complete Drying</h3>
<p>Allow the refined piece to dry completely. This bone-dry stage can take several days, depending on humidity and temperature.</p>

<h3>Step 10: Bisque Firing</h3>
<p>Fire the bone-dry piece in a kiln to the bisque temperature specific to your clay body. This will make it strong and ready for glazing.</p>

<h3>Step 11: Glazing</h3>
<p>Apply glaze to your bisque-fired piece following the manufacturer's instructions. Be mindful of glaze thickness and drying times.</p>

<h3>Step 12: Final Firing</h3>
<p>Place the glazed piece back into the kiln for the final firing. Once done, it should be fully vitrified and functional.</p>
